The surface of the course is grass and dirt. Therefore, if rain is in the forecast prior to the race, parts of the racecourse may be muddy. If you have brand new running/walking shoes you’d like to keep clean, we suggest using an old pair or ones you don’t mind getting dirty instead. This is not a race where mud is planned, but unfortunately we can’t control Mother Nature, so be prepared.
Additionally, the Niobrara State Park has done a wonderful job to create and maintain the course, but we ask runners to use caution when completing the race. This isn’t a Boston Qualifier nor is the trail a perfectly paved road, so be careful, watch your foot placement and run “cautiously fast!” A course map is below.
